Lincoln Area DialaRide (DAR) Office is located within the City of Lincoln Central Car Park.
We have provided Community Transport for our registered users since 1987.
We provide accessible and affordable transport to those who have difficulty using public transport either because of age, health, or disability.
Each month we do an average of one thousand and thirty trips, and these wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for all our wonderful volunteers.
You will get the opportunity to drive one of our adapted accessible minibuses. Experience of driving a minibus is advantageous but not essential as full training will be given.
You will be transporting members of the community of Lincoln to appointments, shopping trips, social events, etc. You will help vulnerable people get out and about and fight against social exclusion. All our DialaRide users must live within a 10-mile radius of Lincoln City Centre, but they can request to travel to anywhere in mainland UK. It is your choice whether you just drive locally or further afield.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people and to make a real difference in their lives. Our volunteers gain a real sense of satisfaction and enjoy being part of a team.
You must be 21+ and have had a clean full driving licence for at least 2 years or if you passed your driving test before 1997 it will need a D1 classification (Category A for older licences). Those volunteers who are over 70 years old will require a medical to keep the D1 classification on their licence (which we pay for).
People with a friendly and caring approach, good people skills with a desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives will do great in this role.
A full enhanced DBS check is required for this role and a short online Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding Course must be completed.
You will be compensated for travel expenses at a rate that is in line with government guidelines.
This role is completely flexible and is up to you how many shifts you do each week/month.
This role is driving your own vehicle and requires the same personal attributes as above. Our drivers gain a real sense of satisfaction from aiding our customers from all over the county to get out and about.
You must be over 18 years old to apply as a full enhanced DBS check is required for this role and a short online Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding Course must be completed.
You will be compensated 45p per mile for fuel costs, this includes every mile that you travel starting from your home and back again. On many occasions you will be asked to wait for the customer and bring them back again. You will be given an induction/information pack when you start and ongoing support including out of hours contact with staff in case of emergencies.
We require a copy of your up-to-date insurance certificate.
This role is completely flexible and is up to you how much or how little time you give and when.
All volunteers require a fully enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) certificate, and all volunteer roles will require 2 references from people who have known you for over 3 years and are not immediate family. If you can provide an email address for us to contact your referees, then this will both speed up the process and help us keep our costs to a minimum.
